From the fine Volks at Neumann in former West Berlin, the same people who gave us so many legendary sounding microphones, preamps, EQ's, and compressors, come the PV76 microphone preamps. They were Neumann's first 76dB solid-state mic pre with adjustable gain and all circuitry is discrete, living up to the strict German television and radio broadcast standards of the 60's, 70's. and 80's.

We were completely stunned when we first got these in and opened them up. They look like new inside and polished up beautifully on the exterior, amazing for a preamp dating back to the late 60's and early 70's. The build quality on these is absolutely superb and each unit has old-style UI input and output transformers similar to those used in the highly-sought-after original issue Telefunken V672 units. With three large transformers per module plus two top-quality Neumann inductors, these have a thick presence that is hard to compare. The tone on these units is absolutely stellar. These things are seriously beefy and colored and passing signal through them will add a different dimension to your tone. They are excellent on bass, drums, electric guitars and anything you want to thicken, tighten, and warm-up a bit. They simply don't make them like this anymore. These are a great pair with their Neumann TEV equalizer counterparts and a pair of each mounted together in a three space rack and power supply included.
